We first visited this site way back in the early 2000’s, when it was a functioning cow shed complete with feeding troughs and the unmistakable aroma of the countryside. At that point we were commissioned to prepare a scheme for conversion of the barns, with modest extensions, to create a family home of unique character.
What followed was an epic self-build adventure, with a remarkable client who insisted in getting his hands dirty. At one stage we understand that Kevin McCloud was considering the project for inclusion on the Grand Designs television program, and it’s possible he missed a great opportunity to record the drama of what may have been the muddiest site ever.
Fast forward a decade, and we returned to secure approval for a further extension to what was the bull pen end of the barn, creating a glazed extension in Oak, that added space to the interior, and opened up visual links between inside and outside spaces.
One of dozens of examples of clients returning to us with repeat commissions, it’s a great feeling to get that call from a familiar voice, or see the well-known email address pop up after a few years, with new challenges and adventures to be had.Back
